HANDS ACROSS THE TABLE

2009 FARM OUTREACH PROGRAM In 2010, New Moon Farm will again offer our popular "work for food" program here at the Farm. New Moon Farm has been operating as an organic farm since 2000 and is located in western Rowan County. We are just on the Iredell/Rowan County border and a very short drive from Mooresville and I-77, which is easily accessible from Davidson, Salisbury, Statesville and the surrounding area.

"WORK FOR FOOD" PROGRAM In exchange for working at the Farm for a minimum number of hours per week, we offer anyone who is genuinely interested the opportunity to learn organic farming first hand, by working and learning on an actual organic farm. Our goal with this program is to offer aspiring organic growers the opportunity to get real, hands on experience, guided by real organic farmers.

In addition to the learning environment, each participant will be "paid" in organic food on a weekly basis. Participants who commit to working 25 or more hours per week will be offered the opportunity to "sharecrop" a small organic plot here at the Farm. This is a great opportunity for anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of sustainable farming, organic growing and have a lot of fun doing it! Unfortunately, we are unable to offer housing for anyone at this time.

WORK BEGINS IN MARCH 2010 To participate in the program, one only needs the willingness to learn, the time to give and a reasonable level of health and ability. Applications will be taken beginning January 2010. Work begins in March. For anyone interested in learning about sustainable and organic farming but with limited time, volunteering requires no specific time commitment. Participants can work as many or as few hours as they have available.
