Overview of New Moon Farm Share CSA for 2008

100% LOCAL, CERTIFIED ORGANIC - All of our produce is guaranteed to be 100% certified organically grown at New Moon Farm.

PRICE INCREASE - Membership price will increase in 2008.

REDUCTION IN TOTAL SHARES - The total number of CSA shares is being cut back in 2008, so that we can offer a wider range of options. This will also allow us to better utilize our land, water and labor.

SHARE BASICS - The volume and selection of items in our shares will be enhanced to better meet the needs of members. We will also be providing free home delivery of shares next year.

NEW OPTIONS ADDED - We are expanding the number of ways members can participate in our Farm Share CSA. Several different size options, as well as an Egg and Farm Goods Option have been included for next year.

RESERVING SHARES - We begin taking reservations in December for membership in our 2008 Farm Share CSA. Demand for membership is high and advance deposit is necessary to secure reservation. Also, because a CSA is a partnership between the members and the farmers, the advance deposit may be used for some of the initial yearly start up expenses (organic seed for example) which must be met long before the growing season even starts. See the CSA agreement for deposit refund criteria.

2008 CROP LIST - While it is impossible to state exactly what would be in a share each week, take a look at the tentative list of what we will be growing in 2008 (link at left).

EGGS - We will be producing free range eggs at the Farm next year. An outstanding heritage breed chicken has been chosen for this project.

WELL AND IRRIGATION -The Farm is planning to invest in a new well and irrigation system for 2008, so if drought conditions continue through next year, production will not be affected when there is no rain.
